How to tell which sensor size a zoom lens was designed for?

Wide-angle zoom lenses don’t seem to exist. (If you know one, please feel free to contact us at optowiki@lensation.de). Most zoom lenses seem to start with a normal focal length instead, same to the sensor’s diagonal!

This means that you can tell the sensor size a zoom lens was designed for by the range of focal lengths. For example a 6-18mm zoom was most likely designed for a 1/3 “sensor with 6mm diagonal and an 11mm – 66mm zoom was most likely designed for a 2/3” sensor with 11mm diagonal.
